In lieu of TR shirts this week, there's a special prize pack for you courtesy of the good people over at Atlus: the just-released Game of Thrones RPG as well as the art book Game of Thrones: Visuals from the RPG. I have three copies to give away, (the winners get to choose between the PS3 or Xbox 360 version of the game). So, what do you need to do to win this impressive bit of booty? Simply come up with a rejected motto for one of Westeros' nine Great Houses -- Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Arryn, Greyjoy, Martell, Targaryen, Tully, and Tyrel.
Example: House Stark: Heads Above the Rest.
Something like that, except, you know, clever. I'm looking for quality of quantity here, so you don't have to come up with a rejected motto for each individual house (though you certainly won't be penalized for doing so). In other words feel free to enter as many times as you like. Just try to keep each entry as brief as possible. That's it. You have until 12:01am EST on Monday, May 21st to enter. A huge thanks again to Atlus for sponsoring this week's contest. Good luck folks!

Community fans are bummed today that they have to wait months to return to Greendale. Those of you out there who count yourselves amongst their members will love this fan-made video -- a "supercut" as they kids on the Internet call it -- that features Abed declaring things cool 102 times. Clearly dude is in desperate need of a thesaurus. This video began making the rounds yesterday afternoon...before last night's finale. That's odd, as things that are instantly out of date = uncool. Enjoy it anyhow. And be sure to come back at 5pm for this weekend's contest, it's a doozy. (Via Buzzfeed)

My apologies for yet another Ridley Scott-related post so shortly after the last one, but I felt compelled to mention that the nebulous entity known as another Blade Runner is once again inching towards production. Deadline is reporting that the spectacularly-named Hampton Fancher -- the co-writer of the original film -- is in talks to script a sequel directed by Scott that "won't focus on Ford's character." Before you explode with the white hot heat of a thousand suns, it's crucial to mention that whatever this project turns out to be it is a long, long way off. Just calm down, nothing is set in stone yet. As for the plot, you're guess is as good as mine, although The Mary Sue mentions a recent interview with Scott in which he told The Daily Beast that the film will take a page from his previous works Alien and Thelma and Louise, as well as the forthcoming Prometheus, and have a female lead. If and when Blade Runner 2 does come to fruition, it will be interesting to see if Scott and Fancher will chose to adapt K.W. Jeter's sequel novels or come up with a new story of their own. Will they somehow convince Harrison Ford to make a cameo? What will it be called? How many Blade Runner 2: Running Out of Steam jokes will bloggers make? Will Sean Young show up on The Joan Rivers Show to petition for a role in the flick? What year is it anyway? Man, this thing brings up so many points to ponder. I think that what the whole of the Internet should do right now is take a collective deep breath, release it, and move on. There's no point in getting all fired up about this quite yet.
But enough of my yammering, what do you all think? Is this a horrible idea or it could actually be interesting? What, if anything, would you like to see happen in a Blade Runner sequel?

Usually at 2pm on a Friday, Rob tests the limits of your sanity with Fan Fiction Friday. Since he's off until Wednesday and my tenuous grasp on reality couldn't withstand the horrors of FFF, I'm skipping it this week. I'm sure you are already planning on thanking/cursing me for this in the comments. But as a gentle substitute and possible peace offering, I present to you a look at a different kind of depravity: the life of a World of Warcraft addict. What you'll see here is a tender tale of a man, his neglected wife, and the honorable (yet sexually open) orc woman who can help the pair heal and find a fresh start. Truly this is a tale that all 21st century couples can relate to. And that's one to grow on!

Okay, this is awesome. In Paris, the long-abandoned Saint-Martin subway stop was given a Prometheus-themed makeover to promote the film. If there are any TR readers in the City of Lights, do me a favor and ride this for me, okay? It's an inspired bit of marketing that will briefly revitalize a long dormant structure -- and probably creep out commuters in the process. All I know is that I'm going to be deeply disappointed if Rémi Gaillard doesn't buy himself one of these Alien suits and have some fun with this. (Via i09)

Not to sound like an elitist jerk or anything, but I've never seen James Cameron's Titanic. Its complete lack or robots and time travel, or better still, time-traveling robots, totally bummed me out. See, in my mind the perfect Titanic film looks exactly like the teaser you see above. It may not exist as a film, but at least I can play out my fantasies next year. From Boston-based indie game developers Eerie Canal comes Dreadline, an upcoming RPG/strategy PC game in which a squad of monsters that includes a ghost, a female wolf and a mummy use a time machine to wipe out the survivors of history's greatest tragedies. Aiming for an early 2013 release, the development team is currently taking suggestions on what other calamities to feature in the game here. The art here is reminiscent of both Kate Beaton's indie comics and the work of Carson Ellis -- regular illustrator for the Decemberists, a band whose woozy sea shanties and morbid tales of woe would be a perfect fit for Dreadline's soundtrack. The Eerie Canal team is made up of Bryn Bennett and Steven Kimura, two industry veterans who cut their teeth working on titles ranging from the Rock Band franchise to Bioshock. With their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks, the guys are attempting to release a title that is as adorable as it is chock full of bloodlust. A fantastic example of the indie gaming ethos at its best. Thanks to SlyDante for the tip.

• The CW has released this first look at their upcoming Green Arrow series, Arrow. (Did they do focus testing that told them the word 'green' was lame?) The series stars Stephen Amell as the DC hero and is described by the network thusly:
• You asked for it. You prayed for it. Some of you even wrote songs about it. And now, finally, Toonami is returning to Cartoon Network on Saturday, May 26th. There's only speculation about exactly what will be featured in the anime lineup when it makes its comeback so far, but stay tuned to Topless Robot for more info when it becomes available. And feel free to voice your hopes in the comments.
• Lou Reed once sang "there's a bit of magic in everything, and some loss to even things out." Indeed. Just as word about Toonami's triumphant return began to spread yesterday, this teaser for The Hub's impending Care Bears: Welcome to Care-A-Lot series. (And with that, the great Brony vs. Bruin war of 2012 officially began). Say what you will about this corporate exercise in manufactured cuteness aimed at breathing new life into a 1980s franchise, yet it's still bound to yield better results than this. (Via Pop Candy)
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow - a vigilante - to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be - flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle - while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on - and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.I was too distracted by the CG apples at the end of the clip to really form too much of an opinion on this, but I can say that someone desperately needs to redub the montage sequence featured here with "Higher and Higher" from Wet Hot American Summer. And we're back! Kicking off today's posts is this video that features the most detailed look yet at how the Lizard will appear in The Amazing Spider-Man.
Or maybe not.
Anyways, if you are still annoyed by how Curt Connors' reptilian side is being visualized in Marc Webb's film, this fan video proves that things could have been much much worse indeed. Thanks to Ninja Cricket for the tip.

After the success of his revival of Doctor Who, Russell T. Davies set out to make a sexy adult-themed spin-off that would star the Captain Jack Harkness character. The result was Torchwood. Since its debut in 2006, the series -- about a secret organization's attempts to protect Earth from otherworldly threats -- has undergone several format and cast changes. (The only consistent main characters are John Barrowman's Jack and Eve Myles' Gwen Cooper). Depending on your point of view, these production shakeups have either hindered or heightened the show's appeal. Yet just as Captain Jack bounces back after every death, Torchwood also endures. As even casual fans will tell you, the most frustrating thing about the show is its inconsistency. Until the excellent Children of Earth mini-series rolled around, it was unclear whether or not you'd get good or lousy Torchwood from week to week. With that in mind, today's Daily List will look at the five best -- and the worst -- episodes from the series. Just remember, if you disagree with the choices here you can always take some Retcon when you finish.More >>
